I skipped my workout this morning to watch the Inauguration. It really was the first time I've been excited about an Inauguration. After Obama's speech there seemed to be several different people (experts? oh, I think they're Strategists....huh?) on CNN that didn't think his speech was that great. I believe if you didn't get his message then you may not get what inspires so many Americans. I had never thought that one single political figure could ever bring people together like this. One expert said he didn't think the speech would go down in history as one of the great speeches. I don't think we should be so quick to judge what history will tell. Obama spoke to the world, to Americans, and to me. (I was the “non-believer” he spoke of when referring to the different faiths in this country.)

Today was my “day off” and I took a walk that was probably the longest I've taken in a long time. Like I said, I didn't work out today and I decided to walk from my house to Toys R Us over on Jantzen Beach. (yes, I went to Target too, somehow missing my Sister by about 20 minutes.) I went in search of an HDMI cable at Best Buy but didn't make it that far. Apparently they carry them at Toys R Us and I had to look for new Lego sets. No new Lego. I did get the HDMI cable.

I took this picture as I crossed the Interstate bridge into Oregon. I don't recall ever seeing this before and it struck me as fitting the day -

As Oliver and I watched the Inauguration coverage this evening he said to me -

“I hope he is good.”

“what?” I asked.

“I hope the president is good.”

Me too Oliver.
